Housekeeping

The rooming list

Today's arrivals as the floor needs them — room, guest, arrival time, party size and standing requests — reachable without any front-desk permission at all.

Who this is for: any role granted it — requires housekeeping.rooming.read. Where: Housekeeping → Rooming List

A supervisor planning the morning needs to know who is coming, into which room, at what time, and what they have asked for. That is front-desk information, but it is not front-desk work — and until Epic 90 the only way to see it was to give the floor a front-desk role.

The rooming list is that information on its own permission. A housekeeping-only account can read it and reaches nothing else.

Read it#

Pick a date — it opens on today — and the screen lists every stay arriving on it:

Column What it carries
Room The assigned room and its type, with the room's current cleaning status beneath
Guest The name on the stay
Arrival The date and the expected time, where one was given
Departure When the room comes free again
Pax The party size recorded on the stay
Requests Standing special requests — high floor, a cot, an allergy

The Rooming List for 24 Aug 2026, one row: room 102 standard carrying a Clean badge, guest Ada Lovelace, arriving 24 Aug 2026 at 14.00, departing 26 Aug 2026, one guest, no requests

The floor's view of the day's arrivals. The status badge under each room number is the same one the board shows, so a room that still needs work is obvious against the arrival time next to it.

A stay tagged VIP on its reservation carries that here too, which is usually the reason a supervisor is looking.

Know what it is not#

There is no action on this screen. No button, no editable cell, nothing to save. The permission is a read and the surface has no mutation on it at all — so granting it hands over exactly the arrivals, and not the ability to change a booking.

That boundary is real rather than cosmetic. A housekeeping.rooming.read account that goes looking for /frontdesk/reservations gets the unauthorized state: the rooming list did not smuggle in front-desk access on its way past.

To change an arrival time, a room, a party size or a request, use Reservations — which needs a front-desk role, deliberately.

Give it to a housekeeping-only role#

The common setup is a role holding just two permissions:

  • housekeeping.status.update — the room status board
  • housekeeping.rooming.read — this screen

An account with those two sees a Housekeeping group containing the board and the rooming list, and nothing else — no Front Desk group, no overview, no registers. Author it under Roles.
