An outlet's articles are the same records Outlets and catalog calls sale items — this screen is the full-profile door onto them, the same pattern Outlets already uses for the outlet itself. Two things live only here: a two-level category hierarchy that groups the terminal's item picker, and each article's optional charge code, a reference into the accounting chart of accounts.

Create a category#

Categories are exactly two levels — a main group, and optionally sub groups under it. There is no third level: a sub group cannot itself be a parent.

1. Select Categories.
2. To add a main group, type its name under New main group and select Add.
3. To add a sub group, choose its parent main group, type the sub group's name, and select Add.

A sub group's parent must be a main group belonging to the same hotel as the sub group — picking one from another property is rejected.

Create an article#

1. Select New article.
2. Choose the outlet it sells from.
3. Name it as the guest reads it on the bill.
4. Type the price, in whole currency units, and the tax rate in basis points (1000 is 10% — the same trap outlets and catalog warns about).
5. Optionally choose a category — a main group, or one of its sub groups — so the item lands in the right section of the terminal's picker.
6. Optionally choose a charge code — the accounting article this sale posts against.
7. Select New article.

Quan trọng

A charge code is a mapping for accounting, not a second tax rate. The article's own tax bps is still what the terminal charges the guest; the charge code only tells billing setup which chart-of-accounts line the revenue lands on. Point the two at different tax treatments and the check is still taxed by the article's own bps — the charge code's tax treatment plays no part in pricing today.

Prices are still frozen at the moment of sale#

Same rule as the quick-create screen: a check line snapshots its price when it's added and never re-reads the catalog afterwards. Editing an article here — its price, its category, its charge code — never rewrites a line already sitting on an open check.

How the terminal uses categories#

The item picker groups articles by category: a Main heading for items with no sub group, a Main › Sub heading for items with one, and an Other heading for anything with no category at all. Categorizing an article is what moves it out of Other.
