The floor plan: floors, background images and room markers
The physical-layout view a rack list can't give you — upload a floor's image, then drag rooms onto it, colour-coded by housekeeping status.

Who this is for: Manager, Owner — requires
frontdesk.room.block, the same permission Room Category uses. Where: Settings → Floor Plan
The rack answers which room is free when. It cannot answer which side of the building that room is on, or is it near the lift. The floor plan is the physical-layout view: one floor per row, each with an uploaded image you place rooms onto as markers.
Create a floor#
- Select Add floor.
- Name it — "Ground Floor", "Level 3", whatever your property calls it.
- Select Add floor.
A new floor has no image and no markers yet. The list shows every floor with whether it has a background image.
Upload a background image#
- Open the floor.
- Select Upload image.
- Choose a PNG, JPEG or WebP file, up to 8 MB.
The image renders at its natural aspect ratio, scaled to fit — a floor plan, a photo, a hand-drawn sketch, anything that shows the layout. Select Replace on a floor that already has one to swap it for another; markers already placed stay where they are, as fractions of the image, so a new image at a different size does not throw them off.
Ghi chú
The image is read back through the same request-scoped pattern as a guest's identity-document scan, not a plain
<img src>link — it needs your active property in the request, so a floor plan is never reachable by guessing a URL.
Place a room on the plan#
Once a floor has a background, every room not yet placed anywhere appears as a chip in an unplaced rooms tray below the image.
- Drag a room's chip from the tray onto the image, at the position it actually sits.
- Release.
A marker appears where you dropped it — a dot coloured by the room's current housekeeping status, and its room number.
| Dot colour | Housekeeping status |
|---|---|
| Green | Clean |
| Blue | Inspected |
| Amber | Dirty |
| Red | Out of service |
That colour is read from the same status the room status board shows — the floor plan is a second place to see it, never a second place it is set. Placing a room does not change its category, its rate, or anything else about it; it only records where it sits.
Move or remove a marker#
- Move it: drag the marker itself to a new spot on the same image.
- Remove it: hover the marker and select the × that appears. The room goes back to the unplaced tray — the room itself is untouched, only its position is gone.
A room belongs to exactly one floor at a time. Dragging an already-placed room onto a different floor's image moves it there; it does not leave a stale marker behind on the old one.
What's next#
- Room categories, and the rooms behind them — a room's other attributes: floor name, view, smoking, accessible, features
- The room status board — where the colour on each marker actually comes from
- The room rack — the other view of the same rooms, by time instead of by place
