Properties and hotel settings
Create a property, edit its profile, and set the two policies that change how the desk behaves: the readiness gate and the core-night window.

Who this is for: Owner, Manager — requires
hotel.settings.manage; creating a property additionally requireshotel.create. Where: Settings → Hotel
One screen anchors everything about a property: the list of properties in the organisation, the active property's identity, and its policies. It is also where apps are enabled, which has its own page because it explains most missing-menu questions.
Note
If you have an old link to Properties or Hotel Settings as separate screens, it still works — both redirect here.
Create a property#
- Open Settings → Hotel.
- Select New property.
- Enter a Name.
- Enter a Timezone — optional, and easier to set now than later.
- Select Create property.
The new property appears in the list and in the property switcher straight away. It starts empty: no rooms, no rates, no reservations. Nothing is copied from a property you already have.
Tip
A brand-new property is the case Importing your data exists for — room categories, rooms and a chart of accounts arrive in one workbook rather than one form at a time.
Switch to another property#
- On the property you want, select Switch to.
Every screen in the app is scoped to the active property, so this changes what Front Desk, Housekeeping and the rest are showing you. The property you are on carries an Active badge.
Data never crosses between properties. A reservation made at one hotel is invisible at the other, and that is a boundary the server enforces rather than a filter the page applies.
Edit the property's profile#
- Scroll to Hotel profile.
- Edit the fields you need.
- Select Save.
| Field | What it does |
|---|---|
| Name | What the property is called throughout the app |
| Legal / billing name | The name printed on invoices and tax documents |
| Timezone | The property's local time — every business date and clock time is resolved in it |
| Currency | ISO-4217 code, three letters. The currency every amount at this property is stated in |
| Formatting locale | How dates and numbers are written for this property |
| Address, Contact email, Contact phone | Shown to guests on documents and confirmations |
| Latitude, Longitude | Optional. Leave both blank if you have no coordinates on file |
The Save button stays disabled until something has actually changed, and a field that fails its format — a two-letter currency, a latitude past 90 — flags itself and blocks the save.
Require rooms to be ready before check-in#
- Scroll to Hotel settings → Check-in policy.
- Turn Require rooms to be ready for check-in on or off.
The change saves immediately — there is no separate Save for this toggle.
On (the default) means the desk cannot check a guest into a room that is not clean or inspected without an authorised override. Off means the desk may check into any assigned room.
Warning
This is the single setting that most changes what the front desk experiences day to day. Turning it off removes the safety net between Housekeeping and the desk; turning it on when your house has no housekeeping discipline yet will strand arrivals. Readiness and check-in shows both sides of the gate before you decide.
Set the core-night window#
- Scroll to Hotel settings → Stay-time defaults.
- Set Core-night start and Core-night end.
- Select Save.
The core night is the clock window, in the property's own timezone, that decides which sellable night a stay consumes — a 24-hour stay consumes exactly one. It may straddle midnight, and the default is 22:00–06:00.
This matters for houses that sell anything other than a plain overnight stay: day-use, late departures, hourly rooms. If you only sell nights, the default is already right.
Where the default check-in and check-out times live#
The same card shows Default check-in / check-out — read-only. Those times are governed by stay-time policies, not by this screen, because they also carry per-category and per-rate-plan overrides. Edit them on Stay-time policies.
