Lost & found

The register of what was left behind: what it is, where it was found, who collected it, and when it may be disposed of. Nothing ever leaves it.

A guest rings three weeks after checking out about a charger. The only question that matters is what happened to it — and that is what this register answers, whether the answer is "still in the cupboard", "collected by the guest on the 12th" or "disposed of after ninety days".

Log an item#

  1. Open Housekeeping → Lost & Found.
  2. Press Log an item.
  3. Describe the item, and say where it was found.
  4. Attach a room where you know it, add a remark, and set a dispose after date if the house works to one.

Note

Describe the item, not what is written on it. A passport, a bank card or an ID document is logged as "passport" — the number belongs on the guest's record, behind the controls that protect it, and never in a register the whole floor can read.

Hand it back#

Type who is collecting it, then press Claim. The name and the time are recorded against the item.

Claim is refused with the box empty, and that is the point: an item marked collected with nobody attached to it is a record nobody can act on — it says the umbrella is gone and gives you no way to find out where.

A claimed item drops out of the Unclaimed filter and is still there under All, carrying the name of whoever took it.

Dispose of one#

Dispose records that the house's retention period ran out and the item was disposed of. Set dispose after when logging and the register tells you which items are eligible.

A disposed item does not leave the register either. It sits there under its own state, because three weeks later the question is still "what happened to the charger", and "it was disposed of on the 3rd" is a real answer. Deleting the row would leave you with silence.

Filter it#

Show narrows to Unclaimed, or opens up to everything with each item's state on it. The Unclaimed items badge on the overview counts the unclaimed set — the things still sitting in the cupboard.
