For twenty years, hotel technology has optimised the wrong surface: the screen. Every system assumed a trained human would sit in front of it, and every integration between two systems became a bespoke, brittle bridge maintained by whoever had the least leverage in the contract.

What changes#

Agents do not read screens. They read contracts. So the contract has to be the product — public, versioned, and good enough that the front desk UI is built on exactly the same thing an external agent uses.

That is what Open Hotel Protocols is: an open interface layer covering inventory, availability, reservations and the guest journey, where every payload can describe itself to a caller that has never seen the property before.
